Day 1 Arrive Beijing
Upon arrival in Beijing, China's capital, you will be greeted and escorted to the hotel. The balance of the day is free to relax or begin exploring on your own.
Day 2 Beijing (AB, L, SD)
The full day tour of China's fascinating capital begins with the Tiananmen Square and the Imperial Palace in the Forbidden City, home of Chinese emperors for more than 500 years. After lunch, visit the Temple of Heaven, where the emperors came to pray for good harvests and pay their appreciation. En route back to the city, drive around with photo stop at the intriguing architecture of the main Olympic venues: the National Stadium, nicknamed the " Bird Nest", because of its unique design and the National Aquatics Center, known as the " Water Cube". This evening, enjoy a fabulous welcome banquet featuring the famous Peking Duck at Quanjude Duck Restaurant.
Day 3 Beijing (AB, L, D)
The highlight today is an excursion to the Great Wall. Enjoy the dramatic vistas and marvel at the Wall as it climbs and descends steep ridges and narrow valleys. A scenic cable car ride enhances your visit through the steep hills. Visit the 798 Art District, known as the " Soho of Beijing, a site of state-owned factories which originally produced electronic and gradually developed into galleries, art centers, artist's studios, design companies, restaurants and bars at beginning of 2002. After dinner, stroll down to the Houhai Bar Street, a beautiful lake which is surrounded by numerous of traditions of hutong and courtyards with popular bars where the local people and foreigners like to spend their evening there.
Day 4 Beijing - Lhasa (AB, L, D)
After breakfast, transfer to airport for your flight to Lhasa, the Capital of Tibet. Upon arrival, you will be greeted with a traditional Tibetan welcome ceremony. Transfer to hotel and rest of the day is free at leisure to adjust to the altitude of 12,000 feet above sea level, the one of the world's highest plateaus.
Day 5 Lhasa (AB, L, D)
Today's sightseeing begins with the 7th century Jokhang Monastery, one of the Tibet's holiest shrines. This is the main destination for pilgrims traveling to Lhasa from throughout Tibet, and you'll see pilgrims prostrating themselves in front of the temple. Barkhor (Eight Corners) Street, in front of the temple, is an important meeting place and marketplace. In the afternoon you'll visit the cliff-top Drepung Monastery. Founded in the 15th century, it is one of the largest monasteries in Tibet.
Day 6 Lhasa (AB, L, D)
Today's tour features the Potala Palace, which rises majestically from the face of scared Putuo Hill. Constructed in the 17th century by the 5th Dalai Lama, it is the political and religious center of Tibet. Also visit the Norbulingka Palace, the summer palace of Tibetan Kings, and Sea Monastery, a large monastery of the Gelukpa sect.
Day 7 Lhasa - Chengdu (AB, L, D)
This morning, transfer to airport for flight to Chengdu, upon arrival, visit the museum at Sanxingdui, site of a mysterious ancient civilization dating back 3,000 years. Continue to visit Dufu Cottage, the residence a famous ancient poet .This evening enjoy a performance of Sichuan Opera – Changing Face show, it is the most significant and most interesting opera form in southwest China.
Day 8 Chengdu - Ya'an Bifengxia (AB, L, D)
After breakfast, drive 2.5 hours to Bifengxia Panda Nature Reserve was build for a new home of Giant Panda on May 2008 after the earthquake while the Wolong National Natural Reserve suffered a crushing below and over fifty giant pandas living in captivity become completely homeless. Upon arrival, visit Captive Giant Panda Enclosure, Panda Baby House.
Day 9 Ya'an Bifengxia - Chengdu - Lijiang (AB, L, D)
Spend more time this morning to visit panda, transfer to Chengdu airport for flight to Lijaing. A gathering place of rugged mountain people with the Naxi forming the majority, Lijiang is a small mountain town of stone and tile, laced with swift canals, which has been listed as an UNESCO world heritage site. Balance of day will be guided stroll the Old Town of Lijiang, was built in the middle of a flatland at the foot of the Jade Snow Mountain surrounded by tree-covered mountains on all sides with crystal clear water running in the middle of it.
Day 10 Lijiang (AB, L, D)
Today's highlight is an excursion the Yak Meadow of the Jade Snow Mountain. Take chairlift ride up with superb view over the mountains and valleys. This famous mountain ascends 18,000 ft, and is made up of 13 peaks resembling jade pillars. North of Lijiang Country finds the Liulidian Temple and Daobaoji Temple at Baisha village, housing 558 mural paintings on 12 walls that date back to the Ming Dynasty in 1385. Buddhism, Taoism and Lamaism manifest in integration in styles of the Han Chinese, the Tibetan, the Bai and the Naxi people on the murals, a proof of exchange on politics, economy, culture and religion between the mainland and the frontiers of China. They are now rated as key cultural relics under national protection. Visit also the Black Dragon Pond with the Wufeng Temple (Five Phoenix Pavilion) and Dongba Museum. The Pool provides you opportunity of taking great pictures of the crystal clear pond with backdrop of Snow Mountains in a distance.
Day 11 Lijiang (AB, L,)
We will take a first visit of the old town to the Zhong Yi market, where we may see vegetables freshly harvested from fields and quite a few copperwares. Then, take an excursion to the First Bend of the Yangzi River and the Tiger Leaping Gorge. The village of Stone Drum stands at the First Bend of the Yangzi River, some 70 kilometers west of Lijiang. Approaching to Stone Drum offers a dramatic view of the Yangzi's near-180-degree turn, where the wide, swift waters perform a miraculous about-face. The Tiger Leaping Gorge, or Hutiaoxia in Chinese, is the Yangzi's best-known gorge after the Three Gorges in Sichuan and Hubei. Wedged tightly between titanic cliffs, the river is so narrow here, as legend tells us, that a hunted tiger made his escape to the other side in a single bound. Here, the Jade Dragon Snow Mountains and the Haba Snow Mountains lean close to each other and a large volume of torrent moving between them cutting deeper and deeper into the bottom of the gorge. In some places there is a drop of 3,000 meters to the water.
Day 12 Lijiang – Shanghai (AB, L, D)
Transfer to airport for your flight to Shanghai – "Pairs of the Orient". Upon arrival, your sightseeing features the bustling shopping street, Nanjing Road, and the Bund, the famous promenade along the Huangpu River.
Day 13 Shanghai (AB, L)
This morning, you will visit Shanghai Museum, China's most up-to-date museum showcasing the country's ancient glory. In the afternoon, visit Yu Garden, famous for its rock gardens, pavilions, halls and ponds, and Old Shanghai Bazaar, with shops filled with all manner of interesting curios.
Day 14 Shanghai - Wuzhen - Shanghai (AB, L, D)
After breakfast, take a scenic ride to Wuzhen (1.5hours), the famous "Oriental Venice". Stroll along the beautiful Watertown, with a good number of side alleys, bridges, ancient docks and secondary waterways, which make it a fascinating place to stroll around. Return to Shanghai in the late afternoon.
Day 15 Shanghai - Home (AB)
Farewell to Shanghai. Transfer to the airport for your onward flight back to USA.
