mapDay 1 Arrival Kunming
Upon Arrival in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan, you will be greeted and escorted to the hotel.

Day 2 Kunming (AB, L, SD)
Take a day excursion to the Stone Forest, 32 acres of karst limestone formations that have eroded into cliffs and peaks, caves and pavilions, all connected by a labyrinth of trails. It is home to the Sani people, a branch of the Yi minority. Back to Kunming to visit the Yunnan Provincial Museum, a monumental Russian-style building houses a collection of textiles, costumes, handicrafts and artifacts of Yunnan many ethnic minority groups. This evening, enjoy a welcome dinner featuring “Cross the Bridge Noodles”, a local specialty.

Day 3 Kunming – Dali (AB, L, D)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your morning flight to Dali, the home of the Bai minority group. Upon arrival in Dali, enjoy a cruise on the lake, with a visit to a fishing village on one of the islands. You will also visit the Three Pagodas, known as the symbol of Dali. Check in to the hotel.

Day 4 Dali (AB, L, D)
Travel by cable car up Cangshan Mountain with panoramic views overlooking beautiful Erhai Lake. Spend some time strolling down the stone streets of Dali’s Old Town.

Day 5 Dali – Lijiang (AB, L, D)
After breakfast, visit the Bai people's Tie-Dye workshop in the town of Zhoucheng. Continue to Xizhou with its unique architecture; there you will enjoy traditional Three – Course Tea with a Bai cultural performance. Then you will be transferred to Lijiang, home to the Naxi people. Lijiang is a small mountain town of stone and tile, laced with swift canals, which has been recently listed as an UNESCO world monument. After check in at the hotel, take a guided stroll in the old town. Then climb up the Lion Hill to visit the Wangu Pavilion. Enjoy a traditional Naxi music performance this evening.

bai groupDay 6 Lijiang (AB, L, D)
In the morning, visit Black Dragon Pool, renowned for its flowers and pavilions, and the Dongba Cultural Institute. The pool provides you opportunity of taking great pictures of crystal clear pond with backdrop of snow-mountains in a distance. Take an excursion to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain where you will take a chairlift to Yak Meadow. This famous mountain ascends 18,000 ft. and is made up of 13 peaks resembling jade pillars. En route, you will visit the White Water River, Yufeng Lama Temple and Baisha Village with its Ming dynasty frescoes.

lijiangDay 7 Lijiang – Zhongdian, Shangri-La (AB, L, D)
In the morning, you will visit the Zhong Yi Market, where we may see vegetables freshly harvested from fields and quite a few copper wares. Then, take an overland drive of 200 km to Zhongdian (also known as Shangri-La, as it was renamed in 2001 by Chinese authorities after the fictional land of Shangri-La in the novel "Lost Horizon"). En route, visit the Stone Drum Village on the First Bend of the Yangtze River. You will have a dramatic view of the Yangtze's near-180-degree turn, where the wide and swift water runs parallel to each other for nearly 20 km, first flowing south, then north. Continue to the Tiger Leaping Gorge, where the river is wedged tightly between huge cliffs, causing a large volume of water to thunder through the narrow gorge. Legend has it that a tiger fleeing its hunter has once leapt from here across the river in a single bound. Check in to the hotel.

Day 8 Zhongdian, Shangri-La (AB, L, D)
After breakfast, visit the Ganden Songzanglin Monastery which is the largest Buddhist monastery in Yunnan province. The monastery is also known by two other names, "Songzanlin" and "the Lesser Potala Palace". Built in the 17th century after a revelation by the 5th Dalai Lama and is considered an important Tibetan monastery out of the 13 in the Kang Region. Continue your visit to the Pu Da Cuo National Park, which is composed of alpine lakes of Bita and Shudu, follow by a visit to a local Tibetan Household. This evening, take a guided stroll in the Old Town where you may attend the local dancing in the market square. You will also visit the Great Prayer Wheel on the Guishan Hill.

Day 9 Zhongdian, Shangri-La – Kunming (AB, L, D)
Transfer to Zhongdian Airport for your morning flight back to Kunming. Upon arrival in Kunming, you'll visit the Dragon Gate on Western Hill. Enjoy the scenic view of Dianchi Lake from the Grand View Pavilion. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure.

Day 10 Kunming – Home (AB)
Farewell to Kunming. Transfer to airport for your flight back to the USA.
